Wonder Woman #22 is the light before the darkness

The capitol is infested with pests!

Wonder Woman #22, “The Island of Mice and Men Prelude” releases today, June 18. The issue is written by Tom King with art by Caitlin Yarsky, colors by Alex Guimaraes and letters by Clayton Cowles.

This week’s story picks up after last week’s issue from Trinity: Daughter of Wonder Woman by Tom King and Belén Ortega (released June 13).

If you need a lighthearted pick me up––and I believe we all may need a pick me up after the last 14 days––definitely give this issue a try.

Wonder Woman #22 opens with Steve waking up to an empty bed, and note by Diana. It’s implied that the couple may have “had a great night” the night prior.

However, Wonder Woman has been pulled away because giant rodents have taken over the capitol and are controlled by the maniacal Mouse Man.

The issue is funny, and touching as Steve and Diana navigate the morning after conversation, while attempting to subdue an anti-immigrant man dressed as a rodent––oh Tom King, how I love the way your mind works.

Although the issue is light, it does foreshadow important topics that will continue to be explored in Wonder Woman’s next arch starting in July with Wonder Woman #23.

While Wonder Woman’s adventures will continue with interesting, dangerous, and some comical villains, it will also touch on important issues that matter within Wonder Woman’s world. Issues like the Amazonian immigration bill, Wonder Woman’s promise to defend the world of man, and her blossoming love with Steve.

The next great Wonder Woman epic will be called The Island of Mice and Men! If the epic’s title is any indication we can expect themes of the American Dream, loneliness, the predatory nature of the world of man, and friendship.

Super excited for the next Wonder Woman arch.

Wonder Woman #22 is now available for sale. Remember to support your local comic book store.
